Heather McKay (Dallas, TX) graduated with her BFA in Modern Dance, a minor in Child Development, and a Pilates Teaching Certificate From Texas Christian University. Her early dance training was at Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she performed works by Azure Barton, Dwight Rhoden, and Robert Battle. Highlights in the SCCD include performances in works by guest artists Joy Bollinger, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Jennifer Nugent, Francisco Aviña, Liz Lerman, and Elijah Gibson.
Besides her dance career Heather has had an internship at Cook Children’s Hospital doing movement with their inpatient population and conducted movement therapy research with Dr. Nina Martin (TCU), presenting it at a conference held at Harvard Medical School. Heather is currently teaching Pilates in Fort Worth, TX and hopes to continue to perform professionally, later returning to graduate school to explore a career in pediatric expressive arts therapy.
